Evie and the Enormous Fib: A Story About Telling the Truth
Details
What happens when one small fib becomes an enormous problem?
Seven-year-old Evie wants to impress the new girl more than anything — so when Sofia talks about her trampoline and her pool, Evie does something she immediately regrets: she says she has a trampoline too. One tiny fib.
What could go wrong? Everything, as it turns out.
By lunchtime, half the class knows about Evie's (imaginary) trampoline. Her best friend Chloe is confused. Sofia is excited for a playdate. And Evie can't eat, can't sleep, and can't stop feeling like something is sitting on her chest.
With her mum's warm wisdom and a bedtime conversation about Proverbs 12:22, Evie discovers that telling the truth is hard — but carrying a lie is even harder. And that God delights in people who are trustworthy, even when being trustworthy costs something.
A warm, funny, and genuinely moving story for girls aged 5–9 about honesty, forgiveness, and the courage it takes to make things right.
Includes book-club discussion questions and a note for grown-ups.
